I liked his three "John And Dave"-novels ("What The Hell Did I Just Read?" being the best of those because it had Wong move further away from "irreverent humor with some dark undertones" and more towards "fucked up existentialist horror with some funny undertones") and I didn't think that he was capable of failing as spectacularly as he did with "Futuristic Violence & Fancy Suits", but yeah, that book's a colossal misfire on pretty much every level. And to that I reply: What the fuck, mate? You serious? Dumon recommended it to me, calling it one of the best things Wong has written, next to the original "John Dies At The End". So over the course of two weeks or so, I read Wong's third full-length novel (and the first one that isn't connected to his "John And Dave"-stuff), "Futuristic Violence & Fancy Suits". After finishing the "Hyperion Cantos" by Dan Simmons, I wanted something a bit lighter as a palate cleanser before diving into more serious literature again (which probably won't happen because my nightstand is overflowing with weird-west-stuff) and since I still had an unread book by David Wong lying around, I was like "Yeah, that should do".
